Here’s a few references for all you wargamers and history fans out there. This is a collection of varying websites and YouTube channels I’ve come across over the years that I like a great deal. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Gaming

  • The Plastic Commando : A YouTube channel about an Axis & Allies 1914 enthusiast, with all the modifications and new units he added to his game.
  • Axisandallies.org : A community based around all Axis & Allies board games. You will find a lot of information about the games themselves, forums where people discuss strategies, house rules, custom units and much more !
  • Historical Board Gaming : Another great supplier of wargaming material !
  • Combat Miniatures : A maker of WWII game pieces. The end result is pretty amazing !

History

  • The Great War : A week by week series on WWI by an amazing group of historians.
  • World War Two : A week by week series on WWII by the same people who brought you The Great War. Simply the best WWII reference you can find out there.
  • Military History Visualized : A channel that discusses many aspects of warfare, logistics, strategy and tactics. You will find videos regarding vehicles, ships, planes and events that span hundreds of years, with a focus on more 20th century conflicts.
  • Mark Felton Productions : A channel about many lesser known aspects of warfare and history. If you want to learn about tons of historical footnotes and small but important aspects of war in the 1900s, this is your place to go !
  • Drachinifel : You will be hardpressed to find a channel that discusses naval history in greater detail than this one. From the story of a particular ship to detailed accounts of key naval battles, this man will sate your thirst for everything that floats and fires weapons !

Combat Vehicles

  • The Tank Museum : You love tanks ? You can’t get enough of them ? Go watch this amazing channel. This museum based in Bovington, UK, keeps hundred of armored vehicles in its collection. Many historians give you detailed tours of those steel beasts !
  • The Chieftain : A US Army tank commander, armored vehicle historian and part of the World of Tanks team. The Chieftain brings a great depth of knowledge regarding the development and use of armored fighting vehicles, especially regarding WWII and later models. Also a track tension maniac !
  • Ed Nash’s Military Matters : If you’re looking for a channel that covers current military events as well as the history of many “what if” aircraft, this is the channel for you.
  • The Online Tank Museum : Nothing but tanks, tanks and more tanks !
  • Naval Encyclopedia : All you ever wanted to know about warships in history !
